For the first time, the pilots of the united Russian military base Kant in Kyrgyzstan performed combat training missions using the new “Electronic training ground” complex.

The crews of the Su-25 attack aircraft during training missions practiced bombing and launches of unguided aircraft missiles using the “Electronic Test Range” technology. The new equipment, designed to create a target environment and assess the results of combat use, allowed each crew to complete about 10 approaches to the target within one sortie. The pilots worked out the complex use of aviation weapons for various types of targets in a dynamically changing target environment, while the time for performing combat training missions was almost halved.

The use of the “Electronic Test Range” will more than triple the intensity of combat flights without increasing ammunition consumption, provide objective control over the performance of the flight mission, and also prevent the flight crew from getting used to the target environment at the test site.

For reference:

The joint Russian air base Kant is part of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces and is involved in ensuring the security of the airspace of the CSTO states. It is armed with Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-8 helicopters.
