On July 3, a bust of Marshal of Artillery Vladimir Mikhalkin will be unveiled on the territory of the separate guards salute division of the Western Military District (ZVO).

The solemn event will be attended by the Chief of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveyevsky, the military commandant of the city of Moscow, Lieutenant General Yevgeny Selezenev, the division command, the daughter of Marshal of artillery Irina Vladimirovna, veterans and servicemen of the separate commandant Preobrazhensky regiment of the Western Military District.

The division’s servicemen will fire over 10 artillery salvos from ZIS-3 cannons during the Great Patriotic War. For the first time, there will also be presented about 10 guns during the reign of Ivan the Terrible, as well as combat vehicles of rocket artillery BM-13 “Katyusha”.

The Alexandrov Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army, as well as servicemen of the Guard of Honor company of the Preobrazhensky Regiment, will perform before the guests of the event.

A separate guards salute division of the Western Military District produces artillery salutes on Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day, as well as on other days at the direction of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation. The division is equipped with 72 2A85 fireworks installations based on the KamAZ truck. Each fireworks installation consists of 6 modules of various calibers – from 105 to 310 mm., As well as a specialized launch complex for the production of fireworks in the colors of the national flag. The artillery battery of the battalion still retains the weapons of the Great Patriotic War – the legendary 76-mm ZiS-3 guns.
