Employees of TVK-2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Tomsk region participated in the extreme race “Steel Character”, which took place on the territory of the sports complex “Kedr”. The event has been held in Tomsk for 7 years as part of a comprehensive program to promote a healthy lifestyle, which has been implemented since 2016 by the Sports Support Fund with the assistance of SIBUR, and the Formula of Good Deeds charity project.

This season, the organizers have prepared for professional athletes and amateurs of different ages 5 unique tracks of varying difficulty with a length of 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 km. The idea of the project is to temper character, create a team spirit, show support and mutual assistance of strangers, test physical strength and psychological endurance.

The instructor-dog handler Natalya Maslova and the junior inspector of the security department Grigory Patrin, choosing a distance of 5 km, in the individual competition, together with other extreme sportsmen, overcame difficult obstacles: they jumped into ice baths, crawled under barbed wire, overcame ditches filled with water, climbed a four-meter bastion and ran cross. As a result, the employees of the institution came to the finish line second. According to Natalia Maslova, who is participating in the mass race for the second time, it is not sports rivalry that is important here, but the support of the team and faith in oneself. Both employees of TVK-2 go in for sports at their leisure in gyms, swimming pools and stadiums. Now they tested their physical strength and stamina in the “Steel Character.” The winners were congratulated by the leaders of the colony and colleagues.
