An unusual exhibition will be held in the “New Wing” of the Gogol House “Horizontal transformation”… Its name refers to the rule of the chess game, according to which a pawn turns into any piece when it reaches the edge of the board.

Visitors are invited to explore the exposition in the role of a player, using a map in the form of a chessboard. Each move is a new job. So, Ignat Daniltsev created a giant chessboard, on which the problem of arranging eight queens by Georgy Kiesewalter, a multimedia installation with Plato Infante’s cubes, paper sculptures by Mikhail Molochnikov and other art objects are located. The image of Sasha Novoselova’s blocky Khrushchevs echoes the structure of the game board, Daria Yaromenok finds similarities between the chessboard and the floor pattern in hospital corridors, Maria Arendt woven a family photo album into the tapestry, and Anastasia Litvinova hid fragments of images of herself on the playing field.

The curator of the exhibition is Alisa Shavrina. Works for the exhibition were presented by Maria Arendt, Yan Ginzburg, Ignat Daniltsev, Platon Infante, Georgy Kizevalter, Anastasia Litvinova, Mikhail Molochnikov, Sasha Novoselova, Alexey Tregubov, Daria Yaromenok.
