Motorized rifle units of the Russian military base in Tajikistan repelled the enemy’s offensive, destroying his armored vehicles and highly maneuverable vehicles in the foothills of the Pamirs.

According to the concept of the exercise, motorized riflemen as part of subunits on BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles moved forward to prevent an attack from a simulated enemy. The servicemen organized defense along the route of the enemy’s offensive to destroy his lightly armored cross-country vehicles armed with machine guns. For maximum target destruction, the gunner-operators fired from the weapons of combat vehicles from a distance of 500 to 1200 meters. Having taken advantageous firing positions, motorized rifle subunits from small arms and grenade launchers destroyed the scattered forces of the imaginary enemy. In addition, the driver-mechanics have worked out the skills of extreme driving on the BMP-2, overcoming difficult terrain and natural obstacles.

In total, about 500 servicemen and over 40 units of military equipment were involved in the two-day exercise.

The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
