In the Nizhny Novgorod region, at the Mulino training ground, servicemen of a separate artillery brigade of the Guards Tank Red Banner Army of the Western Military District (ZVO) used Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance of the terrain and adjusting artillery fire.

During the training, the UAV crews lifted three unmanned aerial vehicles into the sky above the training ground, with the help of which they detected a simulated enemy and transmitted the coordinates of the targets to the artillerymen. The drones were at an altitude of 500 to 1200 m. During the firing of the batteries of the 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers, the servicemen corrected the fire with the help of optical observation equipment mounted on the UAV.

Classes were held as part of a tactical exercise with artillery units of the Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District. In total, more than 200 military personnel took part in the training; about 60 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved.
