Military medics of the Western Military District (ZVO) have begun treating the first patients with a new coronavirus infection at the Shchekino City Hospital.

Currently, 11 doctors and 20 nurses of the ZVO tank association stationed in the Moscow region, together with 20 doctors of military hospitals of the Western Military District, work in the “red zone”, where they provide highly qualified medical care to the population of the city of Tula.

The hospital’s medical staff began receiving patients and carrying out medical and diagnostic measures. They have at their disposal ventilators, monitors for intensive observation of patients, ultrasound machines, X-ray machines, blood analyzers and a PCR laboratory.

More than 50 patients with coronavirus infection were received by military doctors in the first days of work in the hospital.

Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 were taken to the admission department of the hospital, where military doctors work.

Further, military medical specialists carried out an initial examination, brought up medical records and sent them to departments where doctors prescribed a course of treatment for patients. Here, patients are further treated until negative PCR results are obtained.

Military specialists work in the admission and triage, infectious, sanitary and epidemiological department, as well as the department of anesthesiology and resuscitation, laboratories for PCR diagnostics and the study of other analyzes and samples.

In accordance with the decision of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, at the request of the governor of the Tula region, a field mobile multidisciplinary hospital of the Taman motorized rifle division of the guards tank army of the Western Military District was transferred to the region, which made a march on standard equipment from Alabin near Moscow with a length of more than 200 kilometers to provide assistance in the treatment of patients with new coronavirus infection.

By July 5 of this year, a hospital with 100 beds will be deployed in the designated area of ​​the Tula region. In total, the medical unit of the ZVO includes 133 medical workers, infectious disease doctors, resuscitators and 34 units of special military equipment with the most modern medical equipment.
