Tankers of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the Central Military District, stationed in the Orenburg region, fulfilled the dream of 15-year-old twin brothers Mikhail and Alexei Bogomolov from Samara, who since childhood dreamed of riding a battle tank.
The father of the twins, Aleksey Bogomolov, who himself is a graduate of a higher tank school and led a separate tank battalion of the 58th Army during the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, turned to Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, commander of the Central Military District, for help in making the boys’ dreams come true. The commander praised the desire of the children to get to know the heavy armored vehicles better.
The servicemen arranged an excursion to the Totsk training ground for the father and his sons, where they held combat training classes. The guests were shown modern military equipment: Iskander-M tactical missile systems, Uragan multiple launch rocket systems, Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters and Mi-24 attack helicopters, AM-1 army ATVs, BMP infantry fighting vehicles. 2M, sanitary armored vehicles “Linza”. But, as it turned out, Mikhail and Alexei were most interested in tanks. Throughout the excursion, they smiled among themselves discussing the forty-ton armored vehicles that they had seen at the training ground, and looked forward to the opportunity to climb and ride on them. On the observation tower, they noticed 4 tanks. The long-awaited moment was greeted with stormy emotions: the twin brothers arrived at the tanker. After briefing on safety requirements and under the close supervision of instructors, Mikhail and Alexei sat down in the place of the tank commander and gunner, checked the radio communication with the driver, and in first gear drove along the tankodrome track.
The event was held in strict compliance with safety requirements and epidemic measures. All equipment underwent complete disinfection treatment by the forces of the RCB protection units.
