Servicemen of the Central Military District (CVD) will take part in a joint Russian-Uzbek exercise to be held in early August in the Surkhandarya region of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The practical actions of the exercise will take place at the Termez training ground, in the area bordering Afghanistan.

As part of the exercise, Russian military personnel, together with their Uzbek colleagues, will work out the planning and conduct of special operations to destroy conditional illegal armed formations, as well as conducting reconnaissance, combat and ambush operations in high mountains.

The bulk of the Russian contingent will be composed of the military personnel of the peacekeeping unit and the special-purpose brigade of the Central Military District.

Earlier, the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, said that during the summer training period, nine joint international exercises will be held on the territory of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The main event of joint training of troops will be the anti-terrorist exercise Peace Mission 2021.
