In the Leningrad Region, a tactical exercise was held with an anti-aircraft missile division of the air defense division of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and the Air Defense of the Western Military District.

The three-day tactical exercise was conducted in two stages. At the first stage, the measures of the plan for bringing the group of divisions to the highest degree of combat readiness were worked out, as well as the measures for preparing for the conduct of hostilities within the positional area. At the second stage, the issues of maneuvering anti-aircraft battles were worked out by the units.

During the exercise, the combat crews of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system made a march to a temporary training position, overcoming sections of rough terrain in the conditions of the operation of reconnaissance and sabotage groups of the “enemy”, and also carried out a set of measures to camouflage special equipment.

Also, the servicemen worked out the tasks of conducting anti-aircraft combat in the course of repelling a massive missile air strike using the electronic launch of anti-aircraft guided missiles at the air “enemy”. The helicopters of a separate helicopter regiment of the formation acted as a conditional enemy: multipurpose Mi-8 helicopters, reconnaissance and attack helicopters Mi-28 “Night Hunter”.

The combat work of the command post of the system and the anti-aircraft missile battalion was assessed by the exercise leadership group headed by the regiment commander, Colonel Andrei Belchikov.
