More than 300 applications were submitted. When evaluating ideas, we took into account their originality and novelty, as well as the ease of movement along the route.
The winners of the excursion competition “Show Moscow!” The Tourism Committee, became 17 citizens. 12 laureates were selected by an expert jury, five more – by the participants of the “Active Citizen” project. The award ceremony took place on June 30 online.
“Muscovites have sent over 300 applications for participation in the competition. Each of them describes a unique author’s route – walking or cycling, introducing the history of a certain area or revealing one of the most significant topics for the city. The best of hundreds of excursions were chosen by experts and the residents themselves, ”said Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
Among the winning routes, according to the jury, there is a Cycling Tour in the Greenest District of Moscow, which tells about the history of Zelenograd. During the trip, you can find out why Zelenograd has become a unique and exemplary city, open to foreign guests of the highest rank.
Another winning route – “Space maps are loaded into the tablets!” – will acquaint with the life story of the founder of practical cosmonautics, the creator of the Soviet rocket and space technology Sergei Korolev. It includes a tour of the sculptures and the monument to the Conquerors of Space on the Cosmonauts Alley, and also covers numerous place names of the Ostankino area related to space themes.
The youngest participant of the competition, who is only 13 years old, won the jury with the route “Is it possible to explore Moscow with candy wrappers?” Her walk involves visiting historical buildings depicted on the wrappers of Zamoskvorechye sweets from the Rot Front factory: the Tretyakov Gallery, the Church of St. Nicholas on Bersenevka, the bell tower of the Church of Sophia the Wisdom of God in Sredniye Sadovniki and the Church of Gregory Neokesariysky on Bolshaya Polyanka.
In addition, the jury marked the routes in the districts of Izmailovo, Kuntsevo, Yasenevo, Kuzminki and others.
More than 160 thousand people took part in the online voting in the Active Citizen project. They chose several routes. Among them are “Under the Mask of Time” – on the Moscow metro, “Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo at the turn of the war”, dedicated to the history of the region during the Great Patriotic War, “Now the theater is here. And before? .. “, thanks to which you can learn about theatrical buildings, their history and unique architecture.
And the “active citizens” also noted the Plyushchikha routes: more than three poplars and “Experimental Moscow. Experiments of the late XIX – early XX century in the area of the Devichye Pole and Usachevka ”. The latter introduces the process of forming the identity of the Khamovniki and Devichye Pole areas and projects for changing the Moscow urban space at the beginning of the 20th century.
All winners of the competition received gifts from Mosturizm, the My District project, the resource center for the development and support of the Mosvolonter volunteer movement, as well as gift certificates for visiting the Museum of Moscow and the City Farm at VDNKh.
The winners of the online voting were awarded special prizes from the Active Citizen project.
Citywide competition “Show Moscow!” began on February 19, 2021 and was timed to coincide with the celebration of World Guide Day. Anyone could suggest an author’s route around the capital – from professional guides to amateurs. To do this, in the period before March 9, it was necessary to leave an application on a special website. When evaluating the ideas sent to the competition, the originality, novelty and convenience of the route from the point of view of movement were taken into account.
Participants’ proposals were assessed by representatives of the city Tourism Committee, Public Relations and Youth Policy Committee, Department of Cultural Heritage, programs of the Mayor of Moscow “My region”, The Museum of Moscow, the Association of Guides-Translators, Tour Guides and Tour Managers, as well as one of the winners of the last year’s competition – tour guide Andrey Lednev.
