The winners were chosen in 13 nominations by voting on mos.ru. 210 thousand citizens expressed their opinion.

Within the framework of Moscow Urban Forum, which takes place from 1 to 4 July in the Zaryadye Concert Hall, the award ceremony took place MUF Community Awards 2021… The awards were given to urban communities and independent projects, private initiatives and startups that have made a significant contribution to the development of Moscow.

The awards were presented online for the first time. The ceremony was attended by the chief architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Mayor and the Moscow Government Evgeny Kozlov, head Department of Urban Development Policy Sergey LevkinDmitry Chuiko, founder of the Whоosh electric scooter rental service; Arina Drobina, director of the Moscow Urban Fest; Sofia Trotsenko, founder of the Winzavod center for contemporary art.

The best ones were selected in 13 nominations, including the new one – “Together against COVID-19”. First, the experts compiled a shortlist of 39 projects, after which an open vote began on the mos.ru website, which took place from June 21 to June 30. 210 thousand citizens expressed their opinion.

Among the winners are the Northern River Station, the exhibition project of the Moscow Design Museum “Fantastic Plastic”, the cultural and educational space “Bukvodom”, the first inter-institutional design school for teenagers “Cascade. Project as a method ”.

Charity and social projects

The award in the category “Charitable and Social Projects” was received by the non-profit organization “Second Wind”. Its volunteers take unnecessary things and hand them over for recycling or for people who find themselves in a difficult life situation.

Since 2015, Second Wind has collected, redistributed and processed over two thousand tons of textiles. Thanks to them, more than 50 thousand people from 20 regions of the country received assistance. More than 500 tons of things were sent for recycling.

The collection of unnecessary things takes place using 800 own and partner containers, which are installed in large shopping and business centers, public spaces and residential complexes.

Together against COVID-19

The winner in the “Together Against COVID-19” nomination was the You Are Not Alone charity event. Its essence is the collection of packages with food and hygiene products for the homeless. People leave such kits at bus stops, benches near their homes and in other places, from where they can be picked up by those who live on the street. The initiative of the Nochlezhka charity organization was picked up in many cities.

City for children

The first in the “City for Children” nomination was the interinstitutional independent design school “Cascade. Project as a method ”. Mentors strive to teach adolescents to implement their projects – from idea to physical implementation at art venues in Moscow.

Now the Museum of Moscow hosts an exhibition of the school, it will last until July 11. Also, the project of the pupils can be seen in the Voznesensky Center and the Triumph Gallery of Contemporary Art.

Urban gastronomy

In the category “Urban Gastronomy”, the winner was an online store, whose feature is fast delivery. The service operates in 14 cities of Russia and employs 16 thousand people. Cycle couriers reduce the load on the transport infrastructure.

The company calculated that in March of this year alone, fast food deliveries saved the townspeople 200 years of life.

City exhibitions

The best in the category “City Exhibitions” is an ecologically oriented exhibition project of the Moscow Design Museum “Fantastic Plastic”. The exhibition features art objects made from recycled and recycled plastic.

The project has been implemented since 2018, more than 40 foreign and Russian designers are taking part in it. Exhibitions were held in Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Voronezh, Ufa, as well as in the capital’s New Tretyakov Gallery. In May 2021, the exposition was seen in the Austrian city of Graz, which is the European design center of UNESCO.

Urban media and blogs

The first place in the category “Urban Mass Media and Blogs” went to the entertainment and educational media on Instagram Moscow. The authors talk about events in the capital, about culture and people.

The media also has a telegram channel “Moscow Now” and a blog in “TikTok” – Moscow.

Urban technology

In the “Urban Technologies” nomination, the winner was the identification system for people with dementia. The essence of the project is that people with mental illness wear thermal stickers with the words “Help me come home” and the number of the round-the-clock telephone of the regional search unit.

The sticker contains the number of the badge by which you can find out the name and surname of the person, as well as the phone number of a family member or guardian. It is planned that in the future such iron-on stickers will be issued in the offices of “My Documents”.

Urban design

Northern river station became the best in the category “Urban Design”. The building and the park around it were renovated and reopened to visitors in 2021. The complex was restored to its historical appearance.

In addition, after a 30-year hiatus, river navigation resumed. All 17 berths of the Northern River Station are open to ships and passengers, and a barrier-free environment has been created for people with limited mobility.

Green City

The best in the “Green City” nomination was the blog of Anastasia Chizhevskaya in TikTok @ anastasia.chia. With the help of short videos, the author talks about an eco-friendly lifestyle, and this is interesting to more than 100 thousand people a day.

Anastasia teaches Russians to sort waste, understand greenwashing, and talk about sustainable lifestyles with friends and family.

Cultural initiatives

A flash mob in social networks, an exhibition and an online charity auction “Flowers for doctors” (# for flowers for doctors) were recognized as the best cultural initiatives. The organizer was Olga Sviblova, director of the Multimedia Art Museum.

During the flash mob, artists, adults and children posted pictures, photographs, sculptures and videos with gratitude to the doctors. The museum selected the most interesting works and organized an exhibition of them, which took place from September 7 to November 15, 2020. In addition, admission to the Multimedia Art Museum for all doctors, paramedics and medical students has become free forever.

Educational and educational initiatives

The Masters School won the Education and Outreach Initiatives nomination. This is a private educational project in the field of art, the mission of which is to acquaint with the history of classical art and teach people to understand modern art.

Sports and Wellness Projects

Mass city game “Running City” won in the category “Sports and Health Projects”. This is a kind of combination of sports and excursions. Participants follow educational routes and at the same time compete, walking, running, on public transport, on bicycles, rollerblades, scooters. The game provides many routes that are suitable for people with different physical fitness.

Before the pandemic, the game began at the common start sites. Since 2020, it has been adapted so as not to create crowds of people.

Sphere of entertainment and leisure

The cultural and educational public space “Bukvodom” has become the best in the field of entertainment and leisure. It features a reading room, coworking space, lecture hall, vegan café and a zero waste store.

Various events are held in the space located in the center of Sokolniki Park; this place is convenient for work, education, recreation and reading.

The project pays a lot of attention to environmental orientation. The team conducts green lectures, eco-days and festivals, live broadcasts and online marathons.
