At a specialized water center near the town of Gusev in the Kaliningrad region, the first practical training sessions on underwater driving of T-72B3M tanks with tankmen from the army corps of the Baltic Fleet will take place in the summer period of training.

To do this, the crews will have to equip combat vehicles with special air ducts, after which the driver-mechanics will overcome the water barrier up to 5 meters deep, guided by the instruments and avoiding stops and sharp turns. The main difficulty in performing special exercises is to control a combat vehicle without shifting gears.

When passing a water obstacle, the tankers will be equipped with individual rescue equipment and insulating gas masks necessary for the evacuation of the crew in the event of a tank stop.

Also, tankers will work out actions when a combat vehicle is flooded, using self-contained breathing apparatus, which allow them to spend up to 60 minutes under water. Before being allowed to drive, the crew members underwent diving training without fail.

In turn, the servicemen of the technical units will deal with issues related to the evacuation of the tank from under the water in the event of an emergency.
