In Dagestan, servicemen of the airborne assault and reconnaissance units of the marine corps of the Caspian Flotilla carried out a landing with a modern special-purpose parachute system “Arbalet-2”.

During the airborne training assembly, the marines studied the tactical and technical characteristics of the parachute, the features of its operation in various weather conditions and control techniques in flight, and also underwent a ground jump training course. At the practical stage of training, the servicemen landed with the Arbalet-2 controlled parachute systems from the Mi-8AMTSh Terminator helicopters. Jumping was carried out from a height of 3 thousand meters and at a distance of about 5 thousand meters from the landing point.

Also, the Marines improved their maneuvering skills on new parachute systems, practiced an increase in flight range and trained in the accuracy of landing on limited areas of terrain in full combat gear.

In total, since the beginning of the summer training period within the framework of the airborne training program, the servicemen of the marine corps of the Caspian Flotilla have made more than 1,000 jumps with the D-10 and Arbalet-2 parachute systems.

For reference:

The parachute system “Arbalet-2” is intended for the landing of special-purpose groups. It provides a safe landing for a parachutist with a set of necessary equipment and weapons weighing up to 150 kg at a flight speed of up to 350 km / h. The design of the harness allows additional equipment (cargo) weighing up to 50 kg to be placed on it in a separate cargo container with an autonomous parachute system. The harness has nine adjustment points, which makes it easy to fit it for skydivers of any height from 160 to 200 cm in both winter and summer uniforms, special equipment and body armor.
