Today, as part of the planned combat training activities, a ship search and strike group of the Kola Flotilla of the Northern Fleet’s heterogeneous forces left the Barents Sea.
The group includes small anti-submarine ships (MPK) “Yunga”, “Snezhnogorsk” and “Brest”. The crews of the ships work out the coherence of actions during the conduct of an artillery battle with a conventional enemy at medium and long distances while protecting against invasion of territorial waters.
Combat crews of 76-mm artillery mounts AK-176 ships will work out joint firing at sea targets in the combat training ranges of the fleet under a single command.
After completing combat exercises, the sailors will work out the conditional mining of the water area and return to the main basing point – the city of Polyarny.
For reference:
IPC project “Albatross” are designed to protect the water area and combat submarines in the near sea zone. They are armed with artillery and anti-aircraft complexes AK-176M and AK-630M, RBU-6000 rocket launchers and torpedoes, as well as modern sonar systems.
