In St. Petersburg, young flight personnel of a separate helicopter regiment of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District are preparing for independent piloting during training flights.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors – class 1 pilots, young officers on the Mi-8 multipurpose helicopters and Mi-28UB reconnaissance and attack helicopters worked out the main piloting elements: “hovering”, “flying in a circle”, “flying with one throttled engine”, etc. Flights took place during the day and at night.

The main difference between the combat training version of the Mi-28 “Night Hunter” helicopter from the original attack helicopter is the presence of a dual control set based on hydromechanical systems. Thus, the helicopter can be controlled from any cockpit.
