In ten cities of the Southern Military District (YuVO), special field teams, consisting of representatives of military universities of the Russian Federation, have begun testing candidates entering the country’s military educational institutions.

Those wishing to enter military universities are given a choice of thirty-five military educational institutions.

During the selection process, candidates write an application in which they indicate the military university chosen for admission, undergo professional psychological selection and pass standards for physical training.

The visiting commission working in Rostov-on-Don, due to the high temperature regime in the region, conducts selection events in the early morning on the basis of the sports complex of the Rostov State Transport University.

The level of physical fitness is determined by the aggregate of points received by candidates for performing exercises for strength, speed and endurance. Some young men do an additional exercise – swimming.

At the beginning, the candidates are given practical instruction and warm-up, then the young men perform the exercises: running at a distance of 100 m, 3 km, pulling up on the bar and swimming 100 m.

Citizens of the Russian Federation who have a secondary general education and who are fit for study at a university for health reasons are considered candidates for admission to military universities in Russia.

In the Southern Military District, visiting commissions work in the city of Sevastopol, Rostov, Astrakhan and Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, the republics of Dagestan, North Ossetia, Crimea and Kabardino-Balkaria.
