In Kaliningrad, a solemn ceremony was held to unveil a memorial stone dedicated to the 1st Separate Guards Orsha Order of Alexander Nevsky Signal Regiment. It is symbolic that the opening of the memorial stone took place on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the unit.

The opening ceremony was attended by the former head of the Main Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of Russia, Lieutenant General Yevgeny Mechnik, Chairman of the Council of Veterans, Lieutenant Colonel of the Reserve Sergei Pereverzev, representatives of the government of the Kaliningrad region, veterans and pupils of military-patriotic clubs.

The installation of the memorial stone was initiated by the Council of Veterans of the Communications Units of the Baltic Fleet, which was supported by the General Directorate of Communications of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, five specialized military schools.

After the opening, those present laid flowers at the memorial stone and honored a minute of silence in memory of the veterans and colleagues who participated in the capture of Konigsberg during the Great Patriotic War, as well as other military conflicts.

“The 1st Separate Guards Orsha Order of Alexander Nevsky Signal Regiment gave me a start in life. The regiment’s assets include glorious military traditions, obtained by blood and the most precious thing a person has – the life of many soldiers in battles and battles for our Motherland! ” – said Evgeny Mechnik.

The ceremony ended with the performance of the Anthem of the Russian Federation and the presentation of medals, badges and certificates to veterans and active servicemen of the regiment.
