The training ship “Smolny” with cadets and pupils of naval educational institutions in the framework of the navigator’s campaign arrived in Severomorsk.

More than 200 cadets and pupils of the naval educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense set out on a long-distance navigational voyage aboard the Smolny training ship from Kronstadt. Having made an inter-fleet passage, the young sailors passed the Kronstadt – Baltiysk route through the Baltic, North, Norwegian and Barents Seas and arrived at the main base of the Northern Fleet.

At the pier in Severomorsk, the training ship was met by officers of surface ships and the parents of the Nakhimovites. The Smolny MC was moored to the accompaniment of the Northern Fleet military orchestra. After installing the gangway, the head of the fleet combat training department, Captain 1st Rank Pavel Shulga, boarded the ship and received the report of the commander on the successful completion of the tasks of the inter-fleet transition.

Smolny Management Company will stay in Severomorsk for several days. After replenishing supplies and changing trainees, the ship will continue its training voyage, first to the Baltic, and then to the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Several hundred cadets of the Peter the Great Naval Institute and other naval universities, as well as Nakhimovites from St. Petersburg and Sevastopol, will practice on board.

The trip will allow young sailors to develop reliable moral and strong-willed qualities, to undergo hardening by sea in difficult conditions, to acquire practical skills in performing duties in the main maritime specialties.
