Order dated July 10, 2021 No. 1887-r

On behalf of the President, from September 1, 2021, sick leave for caring for a child under 8 years old will be paid according to the new rules. The amount of such an allowance will no longer depend on the length of service and will amount to 100% of the average earnings. For these purposes, the Government will allocate more than 930 million rubles to the Social Insurance Fund (FSS).

From the opening remarks by Mikhail Mishustin at an operational meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers on July 12, 2021

The decision will not affect employers – sick leave will be paid directly from the FSS. At the same time, parents do not have to draw up any additional documents. The fund will carry out all calculations on its own on the basis of sick leave data.

The new measure is aimed at supporting young parents who have not yet had time to gain work experience. Now the size of the childcare allowance, like all other sick leave payments, directly depends on the length of service. If he is less than 5 years old, 60% of the average earnings are paid for sick leave, from 5 to 8 years – 80%. And only with more than 8 years of experience, 100% of the average earnings will be paid for sick leave. At the same time, young parents do not always have such work experience, and they have to take sick leave several times a year – small children often get sick.

The President instructed the Government to support this category of citizens in his Address to the Federal Assembly. “This topic was discussed at the site of the State Council, it was raised by United Russia. All legislative decisions must be made here in the near future, ”the head of state said.
