The 56th Russian Helicopter Championship and the International Helicopter Race took place one after another. The strongest pilots from Russia and Poland competed at the controls of their cars in speed and accuracy flights. Air battles took place under the control of the Helicopter Commission of the International Aviation Federation (CIG FAI).

The crews of the Samara branch of CSKA performed confidently at the championship, having won 5 tournament medals, and performed triumphantly at international competitions! CSKA managed to win 7 sets of awards. Among them are the main trophies – two “gold” in the major league of helicopter pilots – the “Masters” class. The crew of Pyotr Vasiliev-Viktor Degtyar on the army MI-2 snatched the gold from the old rivals on the lighter and more power-equipped Robinsons.

26 pilots with 13 crews from Russia (Moscow, Moscow, Samara, Saratov, Tver and Novosibirsk regions) and Poland took part in the international races. For two days of competition, 4 sets of medals were played: two each in the “Masters” and “General” classes.

In the “General” class in the “Slalom” discipline, athletes from the Samara branch of CSKA took the entire podium. Army girls – Elena Prokofieva and Diana Riyazova – climbed to the third step, Viktor Korotaev and Vladimir Zyablikov – to the second. The first was occupied by the crew of Alexei Mayorov – Sergei Kostin.

As the Russian Federation of Helicopter Sports reported on its website, in the General class, in the discipline “Delivery of cargo” (Fender) in tense competition for the third place, the crew of Alexei Mayorov and Sergey Kostin (CSKA / Samara) managed to snatch the victory of their colleagues Elena Prokofieva and Diana Riyazova. The second place went to Yuri Filimonyuk and Nikolai Fomin (Saratov ASK named after Gagarin DOSAAF of Russia), the leaders were the crew – Viktor Korotaev and Vladimir Zyablikov (CSK / Samara).

Army pilots Victor Degtyar and Pyotr Vasiliev won an uncompromising victory in the Masters class in two disciplines “Delivery of cargo” and “Slalom”. CSKA athletes fought with the winners and prize-winners of the Russian championship. In two finals, the army team turned out to be faster and more accurate than their old competitors, 3-time winners of the overall standings of the World Cups in recent years, Yuri Yablokov and Konstantin Podoinitsyn (Moscow, MAVS). Bronze medals were won by Maxim Sotnikov and Oleg Puodzhiukas (Moscow, MAVS).

The joy of the unprecedented victory of the army team with the press center of CSKA / Samara was shared by the senior trainer-head of the helicopter team of the Aeroclub of the branch, honored coach of Russia, judge of the International category (FAI) Mikhail Bibishev:

– This has never happened! This is a complete surprise and great joy! Our helicopter pilots, and especially the crew of Degtyar-Vasiliev, were very lucky with the weather at the finals: it was cool, no more than 20 degrees Celsius. For the MI-2 helicopter, these are optimal conditions for the summer period: a heavy machine (MI-2 is three times heavier than Robinson helicopters), acquires maximum lightness and maneuverability. But the flight characteristics of a helicopter alone are not enough to win. The human factor decides. Our pilots turned out to be psychologically stronger. It was they who became the heroes of the tournament! Vasiliev and Degtyar have been flying for more than 30 years, they feel each other, as they say, without words, so coordination has also become an important factor in success.

Mikhail Bibishev added that the next international competition, the International Helicopter Race, is planned to be held in Poland in September.
