To date, in institutions subordinated to the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Tyumen Region, vocational training for convicts is organized in three federal state-owned vocational educational institutions and their branches. The term of study is from two months to one year. All students received a state-recognized document.

The professions in which the convicts were trained are in wide demand both in the centers of labor adaptation of correctional institutions and in the regional labor market. These are such specialties as a car repairman, bricklayer, stove-maker, seamstress, cook, slinger, shoemaker, welder, master of carpentry and parquet works, electrician for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, lining-tiler and others.

Lectures were held in classrooms, practical – in specially equipped training and production workshops.

Recruitment of new study groups will take place in September this year. Many of the convicts have already expressed a desire to be enrolled in them. For some of them, this is not the first professional education received during the period of serving a sentence, since the development of new working specialties contributes to early employment and social adaptation after release from a correctional institution.

We add that this academic year, the most demanded professions among the Tyumen convicts are a welder, a slinger, a tiler-tiler and an electrical fitter.
