In the village of Vank, Mardakert region of Nagorno-Karabakh, officers of the Humanitarian Response Center and military doctors of the special-purpose medical unit of the Russian peacekeeping contingent organized a humanitarian-medical action.
For the arrival of Russian military doctors, the village administration prepared working rooms in the local hospital for receiving and providing qualified medical care to local residents.
“About 1400 people live in our village and 160 more are refugees. There are no doctors in our hospital, only nurses. There are not enough doctors. Thanks to the peacekeepers for their help, ”said Sergei Baghramyan, deputy head of the village council of Vank village.
During the medical appointment, the doctors of the special-purpose detachment provided advisory and qualified medical assistance to the villagers.
“Eyesight torments me, I have cataracts in both eyes, +5, my left eye is urgently needed for surgery. … Well done! Okay, no complaints, okay. The most important, it is clear how they treat patients, yes, but for us this is the main thing, ”said local resident Mela Hakobyan.
Humanitarian Response Center officers donated about 2 tons of medical supplies to a local hospital from Russian NGOs. We also held a campaign to distribute food sets, basic necessities, warm clothes and children’s toys to large families, internally displaced persons and local residents in need.
“At the moment, 68 families of internally displaced persons live in the village of Vank, 21 of these families are large families, for whom we have brought humanitarian aid,” said Dmitry Tusidi, a representative of the humanitarian response center.
In total, during the humanitarian action, more than four tons of cargo were transferred.
In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.
A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation has been deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. Russian peacekeepers ensure the safe return of refugees and the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.
