In the tank and motorized rifle units of the combined arms army of the Western Military District, stationed in the Voronezh, Belgorod, Bryansk and Smolensk regions, the selection of crews for training under the “Steel Hunter” program started at the district combat training center in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

As part of the selection, the crews of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles compete in the speed of passage of tank courses equipped with artificial and natural obstacles, such as an anti-tank ditch, mine-explosive barriers, a track bridge and dune sections.

During the selection process, special attention is paid to conducting regular firing, during which servicemen must demonstrate as much as possible the coherence of the crew, hitting targets both with direct fire and during flank firing.

Further training of the best crews of tank units will be continued by an instructor team of 8 participants and winners of the international stages of the Suvorov Onslaught and Tank Biathlon contests. The main goal of the Steel Hunter program is comprehensive crew training, while the standard program provides for separate training of driver mechanics, gunner operators and combat vehicle commanders.

In total, over 700 servicemen of the combined arms army of the Western Military District take part in the competition for the selection of crews for training under the modern Steel Hunter program.
