The company was founded in 1953 to build anti-submarine defense ships for the Pacific Fleet. For 65 years, the plant has built about 360 ships. Currently, contracts have been concluded for the construction of two crab fishers, two sea tugs and an amphibious hovercraft.

Crab catchers are being built for the Magadan fishing company Mag-Sea International LLC. The contracts were concluded taking into account the program “quotas in exchange for investments”, when quotas for catching crab are provided for investment purposes (the winners of crab auctions must build crab vessels at shipyards in Russia).

“The mechanism of“ quotas in exchange for investments ”created on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is working. It provides jobs, helps to raise enterprises that were previously in a difficult state. We will discuss how to further develop this mechanism, because there is no doubt that there is benefit from it, ”said Yuri Trutnev.

The laying of crab catchers took place in April last year. The vessels are designed for fishing for crab and shrimp with traps and longline fish, short-term storage of the catch of crab and fish in chilled sea water, processing of fishing objects into frozen products in cut and uncut form, storage of the produced products and their transportation to the port.

The technical readiness of crab catchers at the beginning of July is more than 40%. On board the ships, work is underway to install equipment in the engine room, a drainage system, water fire extinguishing, air and measuring pipes, ventilation and air conditioning systems, open deck scuppers, aeration pipelines for compressed air systems, seawater cooling systems. According to the investor, the construction of ships is going ahead of schedule and will be completed in 2023.

The United Shipbuilding Corporation, the leadership of the Khabarovsk Shipyard and the regional government are working on additional workload for the enterprise. “The plant is one of the largest taxpayers for the region. Pays taxes regularly. Employees’ wages are paid without delay. There are no reductions. The plant is loaded, ”says Mikhail Degtyarev, Acting Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory.

“The shipyard is ready to build any vessels with high quality and on time,” said Igor Fomin, General Director of the Khabarovsk Shipyard.

As Yuri Trutnev emphasized, the company’s portfolio of orders will depend on the quality and compliance with the ship construction deadline. “The plant needs trust from the customer companies. Because it is not the state that orders the crab catchers. Private companies catch crabs. They must be sure that the plant is able to fulfill the order within the allotted time for the money that is allocated and with the required quality. If the plant builds the first crab catchers on time, then the likelihood that there will be new orders is very high. Then we can help too. Trust is not signed on the form; it must be earned. It seems to me that the plant is reviving, there is progress. This is very important, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.
