As part of the planned combat training activities of the Northern Fleet’s naval groupings, the naval search and strike group consisting of the small anti-submarine ships Onega and Naryan-Mar worked out the tasks of anti-submarine protection of a caravan of civil ships in the White Sea.

The escorted vessels were the hydrographic vessel GS-192 and the large hydrographic boat BGK-310. Together, the ships and vessels worked out maneuvers to evade a submarine attack, rebuild into various options for a marching order. Anti-submarine sailors searched for the submarine using onboard sonar weapons.

A day earlier, the crews of the MPK “Onega” and “Naryan-Mar” in the training grounds of the fleet in the White Sea jointly worked out the tasks of air defense with the implementation of artillery fire at air targets and at sea targets at long range. Combat crews of 76-mm AK-176 artillery mounts took part in the exercise.

In addition to artillery fire, the crews of small anti-submarine ships conducted an exercise to repel a conditional attack of underwater saboteurs and worked out grenade throwing from hand grenade launchers according to the hydroacoustic station.
