The officers of the headquarters of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army of the Central Military District, stationed in Samara, were rearmed with 9-mm Yarygin pistols (PY) “Grach”, which replaced the Makarov pistols (PM), which were adopted in 1951.
The Yarygin pistol uses a 9 mm armor-piercing cartridge capable of penetrating class 1 and 2 armor, the magazine capacity is 18 rounds, which is 2 times more than that of the PM. The pistol has a high accuracy of fire, the initial velocity of the bullet and, accordingly, destructive power.
Also, the pistol has a bar for attaching a tactical underbarrel flashlight with a laser designator and a double-acting fuse, which allows the pistol to be fired with both hands.
