The tunnel passed under the territory of the nature protection zone, as well as under the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.
The Pobeda tunnel boring shield has laid a double-track tunnel on the eastern section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev…
“The Pobeda tunnel boring complex with a diameter of 10 meters has laid a double-track running tunnel 1453 meters long from the future Klenovy Boulevard station to the dismantling chamber located near the Kashirskaya station. The shield worked underground at a depth of 10 to 27 meters, ”he said.
The route of the tunnel passed under the territory of the nature protection zone, and also crossed the historical museum-reserve “Kolomenskoye”. In this regard, according to Andrei Bochkarev, during the excavation round-the-clock monitoring of green spaces, buildings and structures located in the construction zone, including historical heritage sites in the park, was carried out.
The tunnel was laid in the difficult geology of the soil in the construction area, said Yuri Kravtsov, general director of the Mosinzhproekt joint-stock company (general designer and contractor for the construction of new lines and stations of the Moscow metro).
“The shield passed mainly in Upper Quaternary deposits of various types of sand and clay with interlayers of water-saturated sand. To cope with the difficult task of Pobeda was made possible by the fact that the complex was manufactured according to the technical assignment of Mosinzhproekt JSC, taking into account the requirements of the hydrogeology of the capital. In particular, this giant shield has an improved rotor design with enlarged rock-receiving windows and a reinforced cutting tool for tunneling in quicksand and hard rocks, ”stressed Yuri Kravtsov.
He added that compared to other 10-meter complexes operating in the capital, Pobeda has twice the number of foam generation channels to soften the rock and reduce wear of the cutting tool, and its shield conveyor is equipped with the latest system for determining the volume of the released rock and a metal detector.
The construction of the Big Circle Line is the most ambitious project in the history of the Moscow metro construction. It may become the longest metro ring line in the world, its length will be 70 kilometers. It will house 31 stations, including the Kakhovskaya – Kashirskaya section, and three electric depots. The BCL will have 23 transfers to other metro lines (taking into account the promising directions to Kommunarka, Biryulyovo and Rublevo-Arkhangelskoye). From the stations of the Big Circle Line, it will also be possible to transfer to the Moscow Central Ring, Moscow Central Diameters and at the Moscow Railway station.
The construction is planned to be completed in 2022.
