More than 100 tons of scrap metal were collected by the servicemen of the environmental platoon of the Central Military District (CVD) in the Volochanka village of the Taimyr District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Since the beginning of June, military ecologists have dismantled metal structures, 4 antennas of the tropospheric station, sawed more than 30 metal tanks and pressed more than 2 thousand barrels.

More than 30 military personnel and about 20 units of special and automotive equipment are involved in the elimination of environmental waste. This year, it is planned to remove at least 600 tons of garbage from the polar region.

The personnel are provided with a special uniform: winter and summer technical suits, insulated footwear. All servicemen of the environmental platoon are thoroughly instructed on safety measures during work in the Arctic zone, including the use of special equipment designed for cutting and pressing metal. An autonomous field camp has been set up for the residence of servicemen.
