During a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District (YuVO), Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the Sambek Heights museum complex in the Rostov region.

The head of the military department laid flowers at the Glory Memorial, got acquainted with the museum’s exposition. The Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev gave explanations to the Minister of Defense. In one of the expositions of the museum, there are copies of the battle banners of the military units that liberated the Rostov region from the Nazis. He instructed to replace the copies with the originals.

“We need to work in the storerooms of the Armed Forces Museum, find real banners and transfer the relics to the Sambek Heights museum complex,” Sergei Shoigu said.

The head of the region thanked the minister for his help in creating the museum complex, especially noting that the exposition uses information about front-line soldiers – natives of the Rostov region, obtained from the base of the Museum “Memory Road” in the Moscow region. Thanks to this, intelligent search algorithms are possible in the memorial, which allow visitors to find information about their relatives who fought for their homeland.

The national military-historical museum complex of the Great Patriotic War “Sambek Heights” was created on the initiative of veteran and public organizations, is part of the military-patriotic park of the Rostov region “Patriot”. The complex is located on an area covering almost 14 hectares.
