Sevastopol hosted events dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the start of construction of the Smetlivy patrol ship (TFR).

The Smetlivy TFR became the first museum ship included in the Flotsky cluster of the Patriot military-patriotic park of the Southern Military District in Sevastopol.

Representatives of the command of the Black Sea Fleet, city authorities, the leadership of the Patriot Park of the Southern Military District, crew members of the ship from different periods in its history and veterans of the Black Sea Fleet surface ships division took part in the solemn raising of the Andreevsky flag on the ship.

The participants of the ceremony got acquainted with the excursion routes of the ship-museum, the conditions of service of the sailors of the patrol ship, which had passed more than 50 years of service in the Navy of the USSR and the Russian Federation.

For reference:

The patrol ship “Smetlivy” entered the Navy on September 25, 1969, until June 1, 1992 it was classified as a large anti-submarine ship of project 61 of the “Komsomolets Ukrainy” type. The ships of Project 61 became the world’s first serial ships with gas turbine installations. For the characteristic high-pitched sound during operation of gas turbines, ships of this type were named “singing frigates”.

In 2019, the patrol ship Smetlivy celebrated its 50th anniversary since the flag was raised and included in the naval fleet.

At the beginning of 2020, the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship “Sharp” was included in the book of records (achievements) of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with the wording – 50 years in the Navy.

The main achievement of the ship was the twofold excess of the design service life.
