Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Ilya Denisov held a meeting with the heads of the Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation on the passage of the fire hazard period in the Central Federal District, Volga Federal District, Northwestern Federal District and the Southern Federal District.
Despite the fact that the fire hazardous season of 2021 is characterized by a decrease in the number of forest fires that have arisen compared to the same period last year by 3.4%, as well as a decrease in the area covered by fire by 24.6%, the fire hazard situation in the country remains difficult. A special fire safety regime continues to operate in 58 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
In total, 9.8 thousand wildfires have occurred since the beginning of this year. Most of the fires occurred in the Siberian, Ural, and Far Eastern federal districts.
Currently, there are 524 natural fires in the country, 82 of which are localized. There are 11 hotbeds of wildfires in a five-kilometer zone from settlements. There is no threat to settlements and economic facilities.
“In 15 cases, fire departments managed to prevent the transition of wildfires to settlements. Over 1.5 thousand personnel and 386 pieces of equipment were involved in this work, ”noted I. Denisov.
In accordance with the forecast of the Hydrometeorological Center, dry, abnormally hot weather is expected in the near future on the territory of the Central Federal District, Volga Federal District, Northwestern Federal District, Southern Federal District, which may entail the risk of fires.
At the end of the meeting, Ilya Denisov instructed the heads of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the subjects to carry out all the necessary preventive measures and bring forces and means into readiness for an immediate response to emerging risks.
“Taking into account the forecast, most regions will have to pass the test by weather conditions. I ask you to take all measures and be ready to respond promptly and competently to threats related to landscape fires. It is necessary to act clearly within the framework of the plan for the organization of supervisory-preventive and operational-tactical measures in the territories prone to landscape fires, ”the Deputy Minister added.
