Within the framework of the educational and methodological meetings, the most pressing issues of organizing psychological work were touched upon, considerable attention was paid to such problematic topics as the prevention of self-destructive (including suicidal) behavior among suspects, accused, convicted.

The heads of psychological services exchanged experience in these areas, shared their practical experience with colleagues. The prospects for the further development of psychological services in the Ural Federal District have been determined. Traditionally, training in innovative methods of psychocorrectional work was organized. With the heads of the psychological services of the Ural Federal District, the leading psychologists of the city of Yekaterinburg conducted training and psycho-preventive measures. The speakers and trainers were Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of Education of the Yeltsin Ural Federal University, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Rustam Muslumov and clinical psychologist Olga Savolkova.

As part of the training camp, the second stage of the competition “The Best Psychologist of the Penitentiary System” was held in the format of video conferencing among psychologists of the institutions of the territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ural Federal District.

The competition included a significant number of tasks to assess the theoretical and practical training of the contestants, the creative approach and resourcefulness in the prepared videos – self-presentations, as well as the scientific and methodological knowledge of the participants in the programs of the best practices of their divisions presented by them.

Despite the difficult struggle, difficult competition tasks and a highly professional jury, including representatives of the leading universities in the region, the competition maintained an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual support.

Conducting educational and methodological meetings helps to increase professional competence, consolidate experience and knowledge in finding solutions to existing problems of psychological practice in the penitentiary system, and prevent emotional burnout. And the possibility of “live” communication of specialists with each other has become especially valuable in current conditions.
