In 2021, the number of tactical aviation pilots of the Central Military District (CVD) trained for the use of guided weapons almost doubled. This was announced by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.

“In order to master the program for complex types of flight training, the crews of the district’s operational-tactical aviation performed launches of guided air-to-air missiles with 100% destruction of air targets. This made it possible to almost double the number of pilots trained to use guided weapons, ”said Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.

Combat missile launches were made at targets simulating enemy aircraft and air attack weapons. For the first time, the use of guided weapons was practiced by the crews of Su-34 fighter-bombers.

In the exercise of mastering complex types of flight training, 17 units of aviation equipment were involved: Su-34 fighter-bombers, MiG-31BM fighter-interceptors, An-12 and An-26 transport aircraft. More than 50 units of ground equipment and about 500 military personnel from among the flight, engineering and technical personnel, and the control and flight support group were also involved.
