For the construction of the tunnel, a special protective screen made of pipes was created, which made it possible to avoid subsidence of the railway tracks.
The second stage of tunneling for a pedestrian crossing through Aviamotornaya Street has begun. With its help, passengers will be able to get to the western lobby of the Aviamotornaya station of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro.
“The construction of the crossing is going on in conditions of complex hydrogeology. The heterogeneity of soil conditions and the proximity of the railway require non-standard solutions from the builders. The ground at the construction site of the crossing is saturated with quicksand, without special measures it was impossible to start development “, – said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction
For this reason, in the first place, a protective shield of 26 pipes was created. Each pipe has a diameter of more than one meter and a length of 75 meters. Under the protection of a screen made of pipes and after preliminary consolidation of the soil, the pedestrian tunnel is being driven. This made it possible to avoid subsidence of the railroad tracks.
The tunneling is carried out in three stages, explained Sergey Zhukov, General Director of Mosmetrostroy Joint Stock Company. The first stage has already been completed. The excavation was carried out using an ITC-312 miner with a hydraulic cutter. The harvester provides high productivity and accuracy when excavating the soil and installing tubing rings.
“At the second stage, the work on soil consolidation was completed, and the pedestrian tunnel was started with the erection of a permanent cast-iron lining with a diameter of 7.5 meters. This process is technologically complex, it is necessary to exclude any possible emergency situations, since the sinking is carried out directly under the railway tracks, ”added Sergei Zhukov.
Station “Aviamotornaya” BCL opened on March 27, 2020. Until the launch of the entire northeastern section, it functions as part of the Nekrasovskaya metro line.
The Big Circle Line is the largest project in the history of the capital’s metro construction. It may become the longest metro ring line in the world, its length will be 70 kilometers. It will house 31 stations, including the Kakhovskaya – Kashirskaya section, and three electric depots. The BCL will have 23 transfers to other metro lines (taking into account the promising directions to Kommunarka, Biryulyovo and Rublevo-Arkhangelskoye). From the stations of the Big Circle Line, it will also be possible to transfer to the Moscow Central Ring, Moscow Central Diameters and at the Moscow Railway station.
