Motorized riflemen of the Southern Military District (YuVO) formations at the Prudboy combined-arms training ground in the Volgograd Region will overcome the water obstacle on the Karpovka River on modern third-generation infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3.

Water obstacles are one of the most difficult obstacles for fighting vehicles. Diving into the water involves overcoming a serious psychological barrier, since infantry fighting vehicles give a large draft.

On the water, the mechanics of the BMP-3 will have to bypass special buoys indicating obstacles, make turns, work out various abnormal situations and other maneuvers.

Now the servicemen are studying safety requirements, passing swimming standards, taking a course of light diving training and practicing emergency escaping of cars on special simulators.

The exercise on forcing the water barrier will be performed by more than 1,000 servicemen of the Southern Military District, about 200 units of military and special equipment will be involved.
