The strategic nuclear-powered missile submarine Vladimir Monomakh returned to Kamchatka after the completion of a long campaign.

The solemn ceremony of welcoming the nuclear-powered submarine took place at the pier of the main base of the Pacific Fleet’s submarine forces. It was attended by the commander of the Pacific Fleet’s Submarine Forces, Vice-Admiral Vladimir Dmitriev, officers of the headquarters of the association, representatives of the administration of the Vilyuchinsky urban district, the women’s council, relatives and friends of the sailors.

The commander of the Pacific Fleet’s submarine forces congratulated the crew on the successful completion of the combat mission and, according to tradition, presented the submariners with a roast pig. The most distinguished sailors were awarded with departmental awards, diplomas and valuable gifts based on the results of the assigned tasks.

The nuclear submarine “Vladimir Monomakh” is a Russian strategic nuclear submarine of the 4th generation of project 955 “Borey” was built in December 2012 at the “Sevmash” plant. In December 2012, the submarine was launched, and in December 2014 it was handed over to the Navy. It is armed with 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.

In September 2016, the nuclear-powered missile submarine Vladimir Monomakh, having made an inter-fleet transition from the North to the Pacific Fleet, arrived at its permanent deployment site in Kamchatka.
