During the ongoing Black Sea Sea Expedition of the Ministry of Defense to search for places of death during the Great Patriotic War of ships, ships and aircraft in the Black Sea, the participants examined the place of death of the German transport Volgodon for a possible recovery from the side of the gun
FALK-36 for subsequent restoration and display in the museum.
The members of the commission found that there is a possibility of lifting the weapon after neutralizing the lifting point from explosive objects.

At the second point of the expedition, the alleged place of death of the Uralles transport was examined. During a visual inspection, it was determined that the metal remains of a ship with a displacement of three thousand tons lie on the ground. The width of the vessel is 13 m, the length is about 100 m. The hull of the vessel is a chaotic pile of metal debris. Fragments of mechanisms and plating samples were lifted onto the GS-402 deck. Remains of the crew were not found. In all respects and coordinates, this steamer is the Uralles vessel, which perished in 1941. Weapon samples
and equipment suitable for exposure was not found.

After underwater work, the hydrographic vessel of the Black Sea Fleet GS-402 will make the transition to the Kerch Strait, where, upon arrival in the area of Cape Takil, the members of the expedition will begin to survey two unknown underwater objects.

On June 14, 2021, from the port of Sevastopol, under the leadership of the Office of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland, the ninth underwater expedition of the Ministry of Defense of Russia started to search for places of death during the Great Patriotic War of Soviet ships, ships and aircraft in the Black Sea.

The Black Sea Marine Expedition is headed by Igor Goikhman, Deputy Head of the Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the perpetuation of the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland.

The expedition included representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and members of the Russian Search Movement.

The scientific guidance of the expedition is carried out by underwater archaeologist Alexander Yolkin.

Underwater work will be carried out in the area of Evpatoria, Feodosia and the Kerch Strait. The hydrographic vessel of the Black Sea Fleet GS-402 with an expedition on board will travel over 400 miles, while it will be examined by side-scan sonar with continuous scanning of 30 square miles of the seabed, and it is planned to survey more than 10 suspected places of death of ships, vessels and aircraft.

On the eve of the Day of the Navy, a memorial ceremony with military honors, an orchestra, a guard of honor, laying wreaths on the water and salute will be held at one of the established places of the ship’s wreck.

In addition, the members of the expedition are planning to find and recover fragments of weapons and military equipment from the time of the Great Patriotic War. Coordinates of future search sites are formed according to archival documents. The fate of all finds will be decided by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Most of them will be transferred to the largest museums of the peninsula and the country.

During the Black Sea sea expeditions, the search engines surveyed more than 40 regions, found 17 ships and aircraft, partially recovered artifacts from them: guns, machine guns, structural elements. Most importantly, however, over 1,400 sailors have found their gravesites. The members of the expeditions determined the exact coordinates of the death of ships and ships, compiled and put on the sea maps the passports of military graves and now, the ships passing by, pay military honors to the defenders of the Fatherland.
