In St. Petersburg, at the Pushkin airfield of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District, on the eve of the celebration of the Day of the Navy, a ground training was held for “flying by foot” of naval aviation crews.

To conduct ground training on the runway, a flight diagram was drawn over St. Petersburg. Crews on foot, consisting of units according to the types of helicopters, performed line-up in a parade formation, maintained distances and intervals, worked out the procedure for radio exchange with the flight director of the airfield ground control point, as well as the procedure for emergency situations, for example, engine failure or on-board navigation system.

Multipurpose transport helicopters Mi-8, carrier-based Ka-27, Ka-29, Ka-31, reconnaissance – attack helicopter Ka-52 will take off from the Pushkin airfield.

On July 25, during the air part of the Main Naval Parade, 48 aircraft units in a single formation will fly over the water area of ​​St. Petersburg.
