From 1 to 13 August this year, in the Volgograd region at the Prudboy training ground of the Southern Military District (YuVO), a joint Russian-Indian exercise “Indra-2021” will take place.

The exercise involves 300 different targets, of which over 100 are mobile, imitating enemy vehicles and armored vehicles.

At one stage, the subunits will destroy a mock enemy in a specially built settlement, consisting of 3 streets and 50 residential buildings, on the territory of which 16 mobile targets will be placed: UAZ vehicles and about 30 tall figures imitating illegal armed formations inside buildings.

The task of the exercise is to increase the readiness of command and control bodies, forces and means to combat terrorism. Servicemen will practice tactical actions to search, detect and destroy illegal armed formations, search and destroy conventional explosive devices, conduct radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance in buildings and on the ground.

It is planned to involve about 80 servicemen of the Southern Military District of the motorized rifle unit and about 80 servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces in the events.

The plan for the combat training of the Southern Military District in 2021 provides for the participation of the district’s military personnel in international exercises with units of the armed forces of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Armenia, Algeria, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Egypt.

International joint activities are carried out in accordance with the plan of international activities and are aimed at strengthening and developing military cooperation between countries.
