The crews of the upgraded Mi-8 helicopters of the united Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan performed the landing during the tactical flight exercise, which started today at the Edelweiss air range in the Tien Shan mountains in the Issyk-Kul region. The exercise will last until July 22.

During the exercise, the crews of the helicopters fulfilled the standard for the landing of servicemen by landing method on unprepared high-altitude sites, as well as “by assault” from a height of 2-3 meters.

In addition, Russian pilots practiced piloting techniques when evading ground air defense systems of a simulated enemy, as well as the use of an airborne defense system.

Earlier it was reported that the base received two Mi-8MTV5-1 helicopters, which replaced the models of rotary-wing machines of earlier modifications. The pilots of the helicopter link underwent theoretical and practical training at the center for combat training and retraining of flight personnel of the army aviation in the Tver region.

The joint Russian military base in Kant is an aviation component of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and is involved in ensuring airspace security. The base is armed with Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-8 helicopters.
