Servicemen of the railway connection of the Eastern Military District (VVO), carrying out the reconstruction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), are building highway roads to support the main construction work.

Backfilling of the BAM backup road is carried out with rocky soil, which provides a higher load capacity of the roadway. During the main stage of construction, this road will be used to deliver soil for filling a new bed and to transport construction materials. It will be about 8 meters wide and will provide two-way traffic for construction equipment. Heavy dump trucks, excavators and bulldozers are used to carry out work on the construction of roadside roads.

Since the beginning of the work, military railway workers have already mined, transported and planed more than 20 thousand cubic meters of rocky soil from the quarries. We have built more than 7.5 kilometers of roads.

Upon completion of all preparatory work, the military railway workers will begin to carry out the main work on the reconstruction of the BAM.

In total, more than 800 servicemen of the VVO railway formations and about 400 units of equipment for various purposes were involved in the reconstruction of the BAM.
