Over the past 10 years, 18 interchanges have been renovated and built on the main Moscow ring road.

Four interchanges are currently being reconstructed at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) and the capital’s outbound highways. This was announced by the head Moscow Construction Department Rafik Zagrutdinov.

“Comprehensive reconstruction of interchanges on the Moscow Ring Road is a large project, which was launched back in 2010. Reconstruction at 18 interchanges has been completed, four more are currently in the works – with Altufevskoe, Ostashkovskoe highways, Lipetskaya and Verkhniye Polya streets, ”he said.

Today, instead of obsolete clover junctions, new ones with directional ramps appear. Thanks to these changes, the road situation on the Moscow Ring Road has significantly improved. Instead of self-locking ramps, when the movement of cars simply stopped at narrow places of intersections of traffic flows, the main metropolitan ring road received modern engineering structures, consisting of overpasses, tunnels, backup lanes, and directional ramps.

In the area of each interchange, the adjacent streets are also tidied up. Also, specialists are building ramps, repairing sections of the Moscow Ring Road. Over the past years, most of the Moscow ring road has already been repaired, said Rafik Zagrutdinov.
