The works of the convicts were presented at an exhibition held in the regional capital and dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Kuzbass. The event was held within the framework of the social project of the Administration of the Kemerovo Region – Kuzbass “300 Good Deeds” with the support of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Kemerovo Region.

Citizens and guests of the capital highly appreciated the work of the convicts, leaving positive reviews in the book of the Museum of Fine Arts, where the exhibition was held.

The drawing circle in IK-5, in which 33 convicts are engaged, is supervised by the head of the department for educational work with convicts Dmitry Borisov. He helps the members of the circle in mastering new drawing techniques, bringing presentations with a step-by-step explanation of how to write a particular painting and showing interactive exhibitions where world and Russian masterpieces of painting are presented.

Aspiring artists and painters with experience paint pictures in different styles and different materials – watercolors, pencils, oils, and now charcoal. The idea of ​​creating an exhibition, written in coal, arose on the eve of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the coal region and the main holiday of the region – Miner’s Day. 11 works reflecting the hard work and everyday life of miners, after the exhibition, adorned the walls of the club.

As the artists note, charcoal can be used to paint landscapes, still lifes, portraits, it is easy to use, easy to erase, it conveys light and shape well.
