MIL OSI Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

On the initiative of the Center for Public Relations of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, this year the All-Russian exhibition of paintings “Keep the Hope” will take place in Moscow. The event will be held for the second time, but this year employees of the penal system will also take part in it.

To participate in the exhibition from March to May 2021, in 28 correctional institutions of the Kama region, suspects, accused and convicts created their paintings. Creative works were performed using various materials: watercolors, gouache, ink, oil, pastel, pencil, felt-tip pens, mixed media and others. The themes of the works are also different, everything depended only on the imagination of the authors. In total, about 100 paintings were prepared. Then a qualifying stage took place in correctional institutions, the best films were sent to the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Perm Territory to participate in the regional stage.

The 4 best works were selected by the expert commission to participate in the All-Russian exhibition “Keep the Hope”. A picture of the convict KTB-17 Alexander Kayukov “It would be better to be a combine operator” (Solikamsk), a picture of the convict KTB-26 Irina Ryabova “The warmth of my mother’s hands” (Kizel), a picture of the convict IK-10 Yevgeny Chkalov ” A letter home “(Chusovoy) and a picture of the convict IK-32 Svetlana Mezentseva” Save hope “(Perm).

All other paintings created by convicts in correctional institutions of the Kama region will be exhibited on the territory of the Perm Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

It should be noted that in correctional institutions of the Perm Territory, convicts successfully realize their creative abilities, including painting on the basis of art workshops. Today, out of 13.5 thousand convicts serving sentences in the Perm Territory, more than 47% participate in circle activities in various directions.

As the staff for educational work with convicts note, familiarization with art and creativity contributes to the rethinking of convicts of their lives, broadens their horizons, which affects the process of their resocialization.

Today, the GUFSIN of Russia in the Perm Territory is actively preparing for a master class in painting, scheduled for August this year. The sites have already been determined – on the basis of the women’s IK-32 (Perm), IK-1 (Solikamsk) and IK-10 (Chusovoy). During the event, well-known Moscow artists will conduct an online creative lesson for convicts and employees of the region’s penitentiary system and share the secrets of their skills.

Recently, a similar master class with the participation of representatives of the International Association of Artists at UNESCO and the Moscow Union of Artists was held at the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Orenburg Region and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Now the Perm Territory is to complete the relay race of art master classes.

Recall that on July 7, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia signed a cooperation agreement with the Moscow Union of Artists, which provides for the organization of joint cultural and educational events, including contests, exhibitions, art master classes for employees of the Penitentiary System who are fond of painting, as well as suspects, accused and convicted …
