Four Russian flood-prone regions will receive funds for bank protection and dam construction. Such orders were signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The Karachay-Cherkess Republic will receive 220 million rubles. The funds will be used to strengthen the banks of the Urup River in the area of the Pregradnaya station. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, this will help prevent damage from floods in the amount of almost 1 billion rubles.

The Saratov region will receive almost 60 million rubles for the reconstruction of a section of the Volgograd reservoir in the city of Volsk. Here, the possible damage if the site is not repaired is estimated at 590 million rubles.

Funding for the construction and reconstruction of dams is provided for two regions – the Vologda and Kemerovo regions. The first will receive 20 million rubles for activities within the framework of the third stage of the construction of the dam on the Northern Dvina River (Veliky Ustyug), the second – 124.5 million rubles for the reconstruction of the dam on the Tom River in the Chebal-Su area.

The money will be allocated from the Government’s reserve fund. Rosvodresursy was appointed as the funds manager.

Additional funding will help protect residents of the regions from natural disasters and minimize the consequences of floods.
