17 modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles) will enter service with the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan by the end of July. This was announced by the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.

“By the end of July this year, motorized rifle units of the 201st military base will receive seventeen modern infantry fighting vehicles, which will significantly increase their combat capabilities when performing missions in any situation,” said Alexander Lapin.

New combat vehicles are designed to replace obsolete models of equipment for motorized rifle subunits. BMP-2M have an automatic fire control system that allows the commander and gunner to act as a single unit in the daytime and at night. Also, the BMP-2M is equipped with panoramic sighting and observation devices and a new radio station R-168 “Aqueduct”, capable of operating stably even in conditions of radio-electronic influence. BMP-2M is designed to transport servicemen to the front line, increase their mobility, armament and security. The modernized infantry vehicles will be delivered to the Republic of Tajikistan by air transport of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation.
