On July 16, a Russian humanitarian cargo was delivered to the port of Freetown – 450 tons of fortified sunflower oil produced by enterprises in the Krasnodar Territory. The delivery was carried out in accordance with the decision on a voluntary targeted contribution of Russia to the UN World Food Program in the amount of USD 2 million.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Social Security of Sierra Leone Baindu Camara, the representative of the UN World Food Program Steve Nsubuga, the Russian Ambassador to Guinea and Sierra Leone V.V. Razumovsky. In her welcoming speech, B. Kamara expressed deep gratitude to the Government of the Russian Federation for the support provided, stressed that in a short period this is already the second gesture addressed to her country, referring to the donation to Sierra Leone in December 2020 of 50 garbage trucks manufactured by of the GAZ Group companies. The representative of the World Food Program noted the exemplary nature of relations between the UN WFP and Russia, the importance of this interaction for solving acute socio-economic problems of developing countries.
