The crews of the 152-mm towed howitzers “Msta-B” of the motorized rifle regiment of the Vislenskaya division of the combined arms army of the Western Military District conducted special exercises in rebound firing at the Krinitsa training ground in the Voronezh region.

In the course of special exercises, the gunners worked out the most effective method of hitting targets with a delayed fuse. The purpose of the calculations of self-propelled howitzers was to hit the maximum number of targets both at the point of contact and after a successful ricochet with the help of exploding fragments. This type of shooting is one of the most difficult due to the fact that it requires a high knowledge of the landscape features of the site of defeat, as well as the fact that with a deviation of 1-2 degrees, the projectile can burst only in the second or third fall.

Before choosing the type of shooting, the servicemen made reconnaissance of the hardness and evenness of the surfaces, and also analyzed the location and composition of the main forces of the mock enemy.

During the past exercises, which involved more than 200 servicemen of the Vislenskaya division, about 40 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved. Over 200 different targets were hit.
