The first massive raid on Moscow. 220 German bombers sailed in four echelons with an interval of 30-40 minutes. The planes approached the city from different directions, but only single aircraft managed to break through. 130 Muscovites were killed, 662 were injured, 37 buildings were destroyed. Several bombs fell on the territory of the Kremlin. Soviet fighter pilots, together with anti-aircraft artillery air defense, destroyed 22 enemy aircraft.
